This podcast has been my spiritual home for over 3 years, or since week 2, whenever that was? Challenging, humble, humbling, silly, and occasionally really angry (by far my favorite), the subject matter always makes Jesus more beautiful and always reminds me that I have so much to learn, but can do so much simply by loving my neighbor - actually loving my neighbor. It rarely is that easy, and yet it is, right? It’s in that tension, in that usually frustrating and difficult call to be more than the “us vs. them” that ensnares so many Evangelical Christians but also to holdfast to a central understanding of the beauty and need for the Gospel that so often alludes progressives, that this podcast lies. Tension is never comfortable and never really feels like something we want to call home (even though my actual home is filled with it!), but if the kingdom of God is both inaugurated and yet not fully here, if we are to love and forgive and not expect it from our enemies, if sight is the opposite of faith, if we’re to be patient in our suffering and to hope despite all odds???... maybe tension is exactly where we’re supposed to be? You’ll find that here, along with weird extended-family members and relatives who don’t always agree, except on the only thing that matters... that Jesus is beautiful and we could all use some more of Him in our lives. Perfect example: I used to ask myself so many questions about whether it was OK to have sex with a woman before marriage since I was cheated on by the only woman (my ex-wife) I ever slept with, then a gay millennial came on the podcast and said he can’t pick and choose what parts of Jesus He likes and dislikes, so he’s choosing to be celibate because even though he’s gay and culture says follow your heart, Jesus is the treasure?!?!... freaking amazing!!!... Keep up the good work Mike!!!
