Dialogue Needed by Today’s Church
This podcast represents much of the dialogue needed today for the health of the Church. In a world where social media discussions break down into politically-driven vitriol, Mike Erre and his team, cultivate a place for challenging and meaning discourse.
Vox is the Future of the Church
So appreciative of Mike Erre and the internet for showing us how to do church in a practical and futuristic way. If you’ve got a micro-church, start podcasting your messages and leave the rest of your fellowshipping to worship and communion. PS - Don’t know if anyone else has brought this up, but would love to have the vocals be mono instead of panned stereo. If you’re listening with headphones, but only using one ear because you’re driving, you end up losing half of the vocals :-/
Recent listener
Mike, I’ve been binge listening the last few weeks. I came over from the Holy Post. I still love them but I’m all caught up over there. Both programs are great but I want to give you feedback on episode 195. You seemed to be struggling while recording with what the point was and what you were going to do with it. I’ve listened to about a dozen or your most recent episodes and this was my favorite. It was unrehearsed and real but yet you still have enough ability to maintain audience interest. Please don’t shy away from more like that. I’m glad I’ve been making Vox part of my podcast rotation. God bless you man. Brian from Michigan Ps. We have a great church called Kensington up here in the mitten that does a great job welcoming in all the “spiritually homeless” types you mentioned.
A home for the spiritually homeless
This podcast has been my spiritual home for over 3 years, or since week 2, whenever that was? Challenging, humble, humbling, silly, and occasionally really angry (by far my favorite), the subject matter always makes Jesus more beautiful and always reminds me that I have so much to learn, but can do so much simply by loving my neighbor - actually loving my neighbor. It rarely is that easy, and yet it is, right? It’s in that tension, in that usually frustrating and difficult call to be more than the “us vs. them” that ensnares so many Evangelical Christians but also to holdfast to a central understanding of the beauty and need for the Gospel that so often alludes progressives, that this podcast lies. Tension is never comfortable and never really feels like something we want to call home (even though my actual home is filled with it!), but if the kingdom of God is both inaugurated and yet not fully here, if we are to love and forgive and not expect it from our enemies, if sight is the opposite of faith, if we’re to be patient in our suffering and to hope despite all odds???... maybe tension is exactly where we’re supposed to be? You’ll find that here, along with weird extended-family members and relatives who don’t always agree, except on the only thing that matters... that Jesus is beautiful and we could all use some more of Him in our lives. Perfect example: I used to ask myself so many questions about whether it was OK to have sex with a woman before marriage since I was cheated on by the only woman (my ex-wife) I ever slept with, then a gay millennial came on the podcast and said he can’t pick and choose what parts of Jesus He likes and dislikes, so he’s choosing to be celibate because even though he’s gay and culture says follow your heart, Jesus is the treasure?!?!... freaking amazing!!!... Keep up the good work Mike!!!
Vox podcast
Highly recommend this podcast!
It’s just refreshing
Love it. Helped bring me back to a refreshing place in my faith.
Deep and thought provoking
Love how Mike keeps it real and provides deep and thought provoking dialect. He is not afraid to dive into subjects that most avoid because they are messy and dangerous. I love how honest and unafraid he is to share his struggles and thoughts even when they might be unpopular or against the norm. Listening to this podcast has helped me grow in my faith and relationship with Christ and not be afraid to ask the hard questions or go against the popular grain and think outside the box.
Timely
We need more and more voices like this helping us wrestle with our faith in open, honest and real ways so that we become and display Jesus in this rapidly changing culture
If I could be like mike
Sometimes I dream That he is me You've got to see that's how I dream to be I dream I move, I dream I groove Like Mike If I could Be Like Mike! In all seriousness, thanks Mike Erre for bringing on great guests and for providing a forum to dialogue about all the good and the bad and the crazy things in the world.
Love
I love Mikes knowledge and ease of speaking of his knowledge. Love hearing his perspective on so many “difficult” topics especially around christian culture.
Cool cool
Super engaging 10/10
Extremely challenging but gracious towards those that has been “church burned”
I listened to the very first episode of this podcast “Why Gay Marriage Is Good For The Church” in October 2017 at the suggestion of a friend. I am a gay man that strives to follow Christ and I often struggle with whether or not what I believe can ever be reconciled with my orientation. After listening to the first episode, I enjoyed but didn’t listen to any further shows. Now, 1 year and a couple months later, I feel God’s spirit led me once again to rediscover and listen to the podcast and my goodness...it is so good! The topics are relevant and behind it all, I sense God’s truth being discussed and presented in such a way that challenges me even further into learning about my Savior, from an honest and messy perspective. I think EVERYONE should be listening to this! I so enjoy Mike and Andy’s ways of discussing these topics! Thanks for shining a light in a place that so often needs it (the church) but too often is misguided by darkness!

Full-orbed and nuanced, Mike (and guests) do a stellar job of having open conversations. They are committed to taking freely and without condemnation. I appreciate the candor and range of topics. Mike does a balance of sarcasm, grace, theology, and seems to love truth and the pursuit of it. Been listening for about a year and a half and am deeply grateful for how God is working through him!
Good stuff
Definitely worth listening to... I’ve listened to every single one... never disappointed. Very thought provoking
Great podcast
The last podcast on depression was fantastic. It’s not a booklet someone gives you or verses to read, it’s real life and grounded in the Gospel. Also really has me diving deep into theology and prayer over things that I didn’t know there were differing opinions on like egalitarian views. Appreciate the realness Mike and your gift of teaching.
A valuable perspective of faith reasoned out in a complex culture
Have been listening for a while now (sorry about just getting around to reviewing...), when a hiking buddy on the PCT last summer referred me to you guys, and your insights fed me during that summer when I had little access to fellowship. As much as you can hold up the podcast on your own, I always highly appreciate every time you are able to have guests on for back and forth conversation! I continue to refer relevance-thirsty Christians to your podcast, and just remember that the effect you have through the Holy spirit through this medium will not be seen fully by you in this lifetime! Thank you for your thoughtfulness and faithfulness. Ty
Sound quality
Mike, The episode with AJ is much better quality. There are still issues with volume levels that could be worked on in order to make the listening experience better. I promise I’m only saying this to be helpful. I love your podcast. It has been incredibly helpful and thought provoking. I love what you’re doing. I’m not an audio professional by any stretch. I think the biggest thing that could help is to check the levels of you and your guest before you get started. I imagine there are free softwares or apps to do this. Once the levels are set then make sure you’re consistent in how close you are to the mic and be aware of your own volume when you get excited or laugh especially. There are things like compressors that audio pros could help you with. They would automatically raise or lower volumes to keep a consistent output to the listener so you wouldn’t have to be as concerned about this while you’re recording. I have a friend who owns Resonate Recordings. He works with podcasters for this specific purpose. I did not review this to make a plug. I don’t know any of the specifics on how his service works. I just know he could at least give you some professional advice. Jacob Bozarth resonaterecordings.com You don’t need any fluff. You’re doing amazing work! I think it should be a simple fix and I hope others have given you some help in this area also. I am sorry I put all of this in a review, not sure this is the best place for it. But I hope more people get connected with your work. I’ve honestly had several podcasts that have similar audio issues. You’re the only one I’ve reached out to because I want to keep listening to what you’re doing.
Simple. Needed.
Start from episode one and listen through chronologically. Mike is humble and thoughtful, funny and meek in the best way. Need more role models of spiritual and religious thought like Mike.
Compelling, convicting, and honest
Mike is the voice that all of America needs to hear. This is what Christian conversations should look like. He challenges everything under the sun, and makes us think differently, something the American Church needs to emulate. Thank you Mike and Andy for bringing up issues and points that need wrestling, and for not being afraid to challenge the norm. We need more of VOX!
THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD
The best moment in the lifetime of this podcast has to be when Nate Erre calls in in episode 106... Just sayin
honest and open in wrestling with tough issues
This podcast wrestles with some difficult issues. They respond to comments and critiques of their stances, and genuinely care about their audience. Whether or not you fall in line with their beliefs, you have to appreciate their care for the person, people made in God's image.
Theology at it's Finest.
Mike's perspective is incredible, and he understands how to interpret scripture through a true historical lens. What do I mean by this? He understands Christians have had/do have varying perspectives on various issues. The reformed perspective is not the only perspective. Vox understands that we are people who live in tension and he has learned how to navigate the grey.
Thought provoking and challenging
I have been listening to this podcast for only a few months now, but have felt my perspective on life and faith mature by leaps and bounds because of it. I love that these guys aren't afraid to address tough topics and questions, something I wish my church had done when I was growing up. Every time I listen, my pre-established beliefs are confronted, challenged and sometimes turned upside down completely. It is scary yet wonderful and exciting all at the same time! I highly recommend taking a listen.
