Real and True - Always Beneficial
Mikes discussions and interviews are raw and real. He has an amazing talent to cut to the core of a topic and discuss what we need to know to live by faith.
Thanks Mike!
Been a big fan since your Rock Harbor days. Working through the older podcasts and catching up over the summer. I have been convicted of the importance of an open table when it comes to the Christian faith, and your podcast so far is an open table of ideas that hopefully will bring in many people to see who Jesus really is. I give thanks to God that he has used you to brighten the heart of this cynic.
Great
I love the way your compassion for "the other" comes through your genuine interest in the fortune and needs of those whom with you talk.
Yes
Love the conversation - lots to agree on. Lots to disagree with. Lots to think about! Listen!!
Awesome convo
I am really enjoying the topics and have learned some earth shattering things that I haven't heard before.
Transparent, nuanced... no slogan answers, but good answers
Love this podcast. It is space. Breathing room. Honesty is not punished or shamed, because faking it with Jesus gets us nothing. Appreciate Mike's own honesty and that his life drama is the backdrop. The topics he explores are not just theological play things to be put back on the shelf after the podcast, but are real questions from real people living real lives in all of their complexity. No paper people or paper doctrines or paper Jesus.
Yes yes yes!
I can't describe what finding this podcast has meant to me. I attended Rock Harbor in highschool when Mike was there, but hadn't kept tabs on him until I was talking with a friend about podcasts we both love. He asked if I'd heard of Vox, and I said I hadn't. I took a peek and saw 'Why Gay Marriage is Good for the Church' and 'We're not Voting for a Pastor' and thought to myself 'YEP!' It's been an awesome fews weeks catching up the episodes from the past. I just wish I lived closer to Fullerton, cause I'd be ALL IN at Vox if I was. So thankful for the open space this community celebrates and the desire to truly follow Jesus while taking his command to love seriously. Can't wait for more, keep it up!
So Helpful
I've been listening to Mike for over 15 years and he continues to help/challenge me stay on a better path to serve my God, Jesus. Give it a chance and I'm sure you'll love it too! ;) Enjoy
A podcast for whatever stage you're in.
For Christians, you shoud listen to the episode on spiritual maturity in which Mike outlines the different stages of faith every believer transcends through in their "walk". Mike makes such a beautiful and compelling argument as to why so many Christians butt heads even though they claim to serve the same God. Every episode is full of mind-blowing bits of wisdom like this, but this episode stands out as one of the most impactful to me.
Beautiful
Mike and Andy do a beautiful job in tackling tough and controversial topics within the church and culture. Every podcast has me chewing on some nugget of goodness they had brought up or said. I feel like I'm invited in to discuss and wrestle these topic with them, even when I may disagree. But most importantly they make Jesus beautiful.
Real. Love it.
Mike hits it straight. Love it all. Consistent and raw.
Challenging your thoughts
After 8 years being challenged at A Jesus Church and now at Reality Church, Mike Erre keeps pace with the likes of John Mark and Britt Merrick. Challenge what you think you know. Always refer to the Bible and see if it lines up with GOD and his overall purpose. Very few Die fors in the Bible, many more Debate for, Decide for and Divide for moments. The Die for is to Believe, don't reject.
A loving wake up call for Christians and an apology for those hurt by the church
I work in a very liberal community and am amazed to hear a strong Christian leader, Mike Erre, finally apologizing for the hurt that has been done in the name of Christianity. He addresses issue after issue, representing the exact concerns and complaints of my atheist/agnostic friends. Finally a podcast that discusses Christianity in a way that I could actually share with people who aren't already "in" the christian bubble.
Real, Useful, Humorous
I enjoy learning and I am learning listening to Mike Erre and his noble cohost. I need my views and present understanding challenged. Thanks guys for what you do.
Refreshingly Challenging
Mike Erre has a gift for making Jesus come to life. He challenges the listener to apply Biblical instruction into historic and present day cultural perspectives to help reflect the heart of Jesus and how he would approach the social challenges the world faces today. Andy Lara does a great job at providing additional insight, making analogies, and drawing inferences with the vast amount of information that Mike delivers via a refreshing approach. If you are feeling disenfranchised with the traditional American Church, I encourage you to step up and into the thought-provoking challenges that Mike provides with each podcast episode. I'm grateful to have found this podcast and I'm excited to read the post reviews about the many changed lives that are certain to occur with those who are open to learning about Jesus in a entirely new light. Thank you!
Engaging, relevant, and a needed vox
This podcast brings a radical enhancement to traditional Christian thought and a fresh perspective to engaging the world in both grace and truth. I have listened to every podcast so far and have been challenged and blessed by every one. A must for anyone who wants to take their faith and thinking to a new level.
Imagine ... Dragons
Three things 1. I have been blessed to hear Mike speak in the past and I have read his book - Jesus of Suburbia. I enjoy his approach. 2. Mike says "imagine" multiple times on every podcast. Andy fails each time when he does not follow up immediately with dragons. So I scream dragons no matter what I am doing or where I am it. Andy - music is in everything, game on. 3. Thank you for your time in doing the podcast. Keep up the great work. Mike, try a new beer - ease into a hop or two. Andy .... DRAGONS! PS: more Seth. He is awesome.
Challenging
Thanks for your thought provoking perspective and for challenging points of view I take for granted.
honest, vulnerable, thought provoking religious discussion
I typically don't listen to religious podcasts, because honesty they can be very dry, boring, or even worse pandering. But Mike and his co-host Andy facilitate a conversation that is so refreshing in the religious community that I look forward to it every week. It's opened my eyes to new ways of thinking about scripture and how to live out my Christian faith.
Fully worth your attention
This podcast is fully worth your attention, Christian or not.
We need more...
Mike is great and all... You know, knowledge, communication, Midwest values... But let's be real here, we need more Andy. If you don't capture the millennials your podcast will die. Get relevant, get Chemex, get saved people. VOXpod is my jam.
Best Evangelical Podcast
The star rating says, "It's great," and it is. Mike's currently one of the most gifted preachers in Evangelical Protestantism. His podcast is spot on scripture based, and he steps outside of the Evangelical Conservative American box to transcend and escapes the cultural backwater that characterizes some of Evangelical America (the media portray's it as all). Anyway, insights aplenty.
Best Christian podcast
This is the best Christian podcast I have ever listened to. I think over the past few years the loudest voices in Christianity didn't sound that much like Jesus. This sounds more like more like it to me.
Great. Enlightening. Challenging
Listen to it at 1.5x to make it even more interesting. Challenges me as a follower of Christ to make Jesus beautiful to the unbelieving world.
